Pregnant friends

The yaer of the Rooster is not supposed to be a very aspicious year. But it seems that I have quite a number of friends that are pregnant this year. Maybe to take advantage of the new policies by the government.

Was just taking about it to some of my BS group members:-

Macs win again!

Post taken off ME@N.

I agree. Recently my friend's office had a big virus and spyware infection
that slowled every machine to a crawl. The few Macs in the office were not
affected, and when the outsourced Tech Support people came in to fix the
viruses and spyware, they asked my friend how many Macs there were. He told
them only five out of the 200+ computers were Macs, and the Tech person's
reply was "Heng ah! Or else we no business, haha."

As if the pizza on Sunday was not enuff. We endeavoured to stuff ourselves even further by planning to go eat Dim Sum at China Square. Quite a number of us woke up early (considering that it was Vesak Day Holiday) and decided to go blading. Guess it was a good workout! Calves still hurt from the Bukit Timah Hill climb though.

Sunday was a pretty nice day although I must say it was a bit humid. Found out that I acutally have a picnic kit! Complete with mat and a hand fan to combat the sweltering heat and the MOSQUITOS! Had a picnic at the Singapore Botanical Gardens. Selena Tan and friends were performing some tunes. Had a pretty enjoyable time. Brought some German white wine. It was sweet, so that was nice. Also brough the Asian strawberries to complient the wine - lychee....haha.

We also had chocolates, chips and some curry puff thingy...yummy man...

Caught the nice sunset after the performance as we headed for dinner. Went to Peperoni Pizzaria for dinner. Really nice place. Was treated to valet parking....haha. High society huh.

We had the 21 inch family pizza. Huge man. We were actually figuring out which was better. A 21 inch pizza or 2 12 inch pizzas. Me being the engineer of the group, conveniently did the necessary calculations to determine which was best! Needless to say the 21 inch pizza had more area!

We were all in for a big surprised when we wanted to order dessert! We asked for the menu and while looking through it, we spoted something out of this world. We saw the price of ice water. It was a whopping S$150 during happy hour and S$200 after! Peng San...haha. We had to run out of the restaurent and head for our cars! Check out the menu! All in all, it was a fabulous evening of much fun and eating. This is definitely the life!

ERP along ECP has increased by a blooming 50%! Now it costs S$1.50 to go through between 8am to 9am. Previously it cost S$1 to get in between 8am to 8.30 am. And S$1.50 between 8.30am to 9am.

Our government very smart at squeezing money out of us. Public commuters hit by the fare hike, car owners by the ERP hike. Welcome to my world man.

Anyhow, saw the Integra on the road. Always though it was a nice car. However, think I'll cahnge my mind. The rear end is so high up, and without a bodykit, it looked really weird...

What Constitutes Handphone Driving?

Handphone driving

An offence under Sec 65B of the Road Traffic Act is made out as long as there is evidence to show that the motorist was holding onto the handphone with one hand, while using it to communicate. This is regardless of the position in which he was holding onto the handphone and the fact that a hands-free kit was also used is irrelevant. Handphone driving is an inconsiderate and dangerous act that poses a threat to other road-users. The act distracts drivers and reduces their ability to control their vehicles and to react to changes in road situations. This puts other road users at risk. Because of the seriousness of the offence, Traffic Police will continue to step up our enforcement on handphone driving. We advise motorists who wish to use their handphones to have their passenger make or receive the call. If travelling alone, motorists should drive to a carpark before making the call.

Penalty

A first-timer convicted of phone and drive offence shall be liable to 12 demerit points and a maximum fine of up to $1000/- or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or both. He/She may also be disqualified from driving. The offender's handphone and SIM card will be seized to facilitate investigation. These may be forfeited by the court upon conviction.

What constitutes HP driving
i) the driver of a motor vehicle that is on a road or public place "uses" a mobile phone while the vehicle is in motion
ii) using one hand to hold on to the mobile phone and the other hand holding the steering wheel
iii) communicate whilst driving

Scenario A (Paging for someone)

Page for someone, with or without earpiece, using one hand to hold on to the mobile phone and the other hand holding the steering wheel.
Scenario B (SMS/MMS message)

Writing, Sending, and Reading SMS/MMS messages from someone, with or without earpiece, using one hand to hold on to the mobile phone and the other hand holding the steering wheel.
Scenario C (Making a Call)

Making a call, with or without earpiece, by pressing the keypads and was holding handphone in one hand with the other hand holding the steering wheel.
Scenario D (Receiving a Call)

Receiving a call, with or without earpiece, by pressing the keypads and was holding handphone in one hand with the other hand holding the steering wheel.
