The Citroen C4 is on display at the Los Angeles International Motor Show, which opens this week (January 6-16 2006), but the C4's arrival in LA does not herald a US return for the French car maker, rather the C4 is just down the road from Hollywood to collect an automotive Oscar.
The Citroen C4 is a winner in the 2005 International Design Awards for its innovative use of high technology glass products, including the full length glass sunroof available as an option on the Citroen C4 and its windscreen, which is part of its pedestrian safety system.
The Citroen C4 has not just beaten other car makers to take the prize, which is sponsored by Solutia, the world's leading producer of glass laminate products. The award is open to architects and interior designers who use glass in all areas of design and who have taken an innovative approach to its use. The award recognises not just the fact that Citroen has used an all-glass roof in the C4, but also that it uses a remarkable metallic interlayer between the laminates that dramatically reduces heat and UV through the glass but without affecting open-top feel provided by the glass roof.
